Glacier-Inspired Pop-up Store (7 pics)

Just looking at this glacier-inspired interior gives me the shivers. Brooklyn-based art/architecture practice Snarkitecture collaborated with designer Richard Chai for this pop-up store in Manhattan. It is set in a shipping container underneath the High Line park.

The temporary retail installation was part of the Building Fashion installation series, which pairs architects and fashion designers together to create innovative retails spaces. The whole project cost just $5,000.

White architectural foam was cut by hand to produce erosion. The sculpted walls and ceiling also made for varied landscapes, displaying Richard Chai’s collection. At the close of the temporary installation, the material was returned to the manufacturer and recycled into rigid foam insulation.
